Choosing a paint system for military equipment

Many technical and economic parameters influence the choice of suitable paint materials for a specific application, the importance of which may not be the same in every situation. It is necessary to take into account the corrosiveness of the environment, the required service life of the treated surface, the possibilities of maintenance and renewal, aesthetic requirements, hygienic and ecological regulations, the suitability of the application equipment and, of course, a summary of the properties determining the given coating material, such as drying speed, processing time, shade range, application options, etc.

Application of paint materials

In addition to the various methods of spraying (conventional air, with added air, high pressure), it is painting with a brush or a roller. Practical experience shows that brushing or airless spraying is the best method for applying the first coat (anti-corrosion base paints and single-coat paints). To ensure the film thickness is as uniform as possible, it is advisable to carry out cross-coating whenever possible. Special attention should be paid to edges, corners and hard-to-reach places. Before machine application, it is advisable to manually pre-coat these areas to achieve the required film thickness.

For the selected application technology, the viscosity of the supplied paint is usually adjusted using prescribed thinners.
